PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Lii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniels comes into the arena with Beast Mode blaring out of the sound system. Lii has chosen Legend of the Ocean as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luke Lii!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lii fails to land with a series of punches.

Lii has closed the distance and engaged Daniels in a clinch.
Lii lands a left hand.
Lii lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Daniels throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Daniels gets underhooks to prevent Lii's takedown attempt.
Lii prevents the takedown attempt.

Lii breaks from the clinch.

Lii drives through and clinches with Daniels against the cage.
Lii with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Daniels jumps guard and drags Lii to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lii missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lii postures up in Daniels's guard and throws a big left but Daniels blocks it.

Lii drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Daniels dives on top into guard.
Lii looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lii can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lii looking for subs off his back but Daniels has passed one foot through into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Daniels wants to pass to mount but Lii is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Daniels is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lii is just riding it out for now. Daniels eventually gives up the hold.

Daniels is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Lii looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Lii really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Daniels. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Daniels is looking for a kimura here.

Daniels is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lii sees it coming and defends easily.
Daniels trying to pass the guard but Lii defending well.

Lii looking for subs from the bottom but Daniels mounts him!
Lii keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Daniels is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Lii has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Lii!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lii postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lii accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Daniels might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Lii wants to stand but Daniels has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Daniels looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lii throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Daniels works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lii throws a big right hand that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lii wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Daniels's closed guard. He's half up but Daniels has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Daniels pivots and extends the arm, Lii falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Daniels! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jack Daniels!
Jack Daniels looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I would like to thank Keith Hawk for giving me this chance. Also I would like to thank Ceasar T. for the awesome gym that he runs in L.A.. Couldn'nt do this without you guys. As for the next guy I fight I would like to apologize for messin up yo' face!'.
