The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shestakov with a poor takedown
enabling Drake to counter with a crisp jab.
Drake fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Drake closes the distance and clinches up with Shestakov, looking for a takedown. Drake pushes Shestakov against the cage but Shestakov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Shestakov clinches.

Shestakov decides to pull guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Drake postures up.

Shestakov looking for a guillotine here but Drake defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drake preventing the sweep.

Drake throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Drake wants to control from the top but Shestakov keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Albert Drake wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Drake takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Albert Drake has been cut.
Shestakov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Drake.

Shestakov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Drake fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Shestakov.

Drake tries to clinch there but Shestakov circles away.

Drake throws a right and a left that both miss.
The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shestakov is looking to land body kicks.
Drake scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Drake stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Drake wants it to stay on the feet.

and Shestakov counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Drake!
Shestakov looks gassed!

Drake is wriggling around trying to escape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Drake wants to hold on but Shestakov pushes him away.
Shestakov cracks Drake with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drake is trying desperately to improve position.
Drake is squirming around, avoiding Shestakov's attempts to control the action.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drake regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Maksim Shestakov will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Albert Drake's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Drake closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shestakov to the mat! Shestakov manages to get full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shestakov is on top in guard.
Drake could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Drake throws his legs up looking for a submission but Shestakov uses it to pass to side control.
Drake is not content to let Shestakov control the position.

A lull in the action here.
Drake gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Drake makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Drake.

Shestakov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Drake, up you get!
Shestakov plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Drake is rocked!
Shestakov throws a powerful right kick. Drake tried to block low but the kick was high! Drake was taken right off of his feet! Shestakov jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
