PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sabin Figaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilson Baldoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figaro's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Coming Home - Instrumental. Baldoza has chosen Last Resort as his entrance music. Wilson Baldoza acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sabin Figaro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Baldoza!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baldoza shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Figaro but Figaro pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Baldoza gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Baldoza looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Baldoza fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Figaro prevents Baldoza from breaking the clinch.

Figaro gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Baldoza is working an open guard so Figaro takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Baldoza stuffs the takedown.
Baldoza fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sabin Figaro has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilson Baldoza.
Figaro looks for a takedown but Baldoza sprawls well.
Baldoza shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Figaro eats them both and turns towards Baldoza to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Figaro closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Baldoza is pushing Figaro's head away, looking to escape. Figaro manages to hold on to the position though.
Figaro cracks Baldoza with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Baldoza sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Baldoza is not content to let Figaro control the position.
Baldoza pushes Figaro off looking to stand but Figaro dives back in and keeps control.

Figaro seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Figaro seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Baldoza avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Figaro.
Figaro looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Figaro seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Baldoza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Figaro lands with a punch from half guard.
Baldoza pushes Figaro off looking to stand but Figaro dives back in and keeps control.
Ground and pound from Figaro.
Figaro perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Figaro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Figaro not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Figaro wants to stand up but Baldoza has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Figaro seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Baldoza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Figaro stops Baldoza from getting back to his feet.
Figaro scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Figaro takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Figaro working over Baldoza with some ground and pound. Baldoza looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Baldoza wants to control but Figaro is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Figaro takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Figaro seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Figaro slips a nice elbow through Baldoza's hands, connecting with Baldoza's forehead.
Figaro with the ground and pound but Baldoza uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Figaro loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Baldoza utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Figaro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Baldoza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Figaro has managed to get both his arms back between Baldoza's legs - danger averted.
Baldoza striking off his back but it's not causing Figaro any problems.
Figaro seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Figaro lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Figaro throwing strikes but missing.
Baldoza is trying to keep Figaro in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sabin Figaro dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Figaro swats away the attempt to clinch by Baldoza.
Baldoza tries to clinch but Figaro is having none of it.

Figaro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Baldoza napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Figaro looks up at the clock and then as Baldoza takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Figaro smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Baldoza is not content to let Figaro control the position.

Baldoza is looking to reverse the position.
Baldoza taking a bit of punishment here - Figaro scoring with strikes.
Figaro tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Baldoza is working to avoid the ground and pound but Figaro connects with a decent elbow.


Baldoza is rocked!
Figaro lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Baldoza! Figaro senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Baldoza out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sabin Figaro!
During a confident post fight interview, Sabin Figaro thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
