Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bjj Spar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian McDonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Brian McDonald enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bjj Spar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian McDonald!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McDonald shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Spar makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Spar.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McDonald pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spar is keeping the position for now.
McDonald has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spar is proving hard to escape from.
Spar tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Spar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Spar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McDonald doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McDonald manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McDonald would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Spar has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. McDonald is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Spar.

McDonald remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

That was a close round but I would say that Bjj Spar will probably get the nod.

Spar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McDonald manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spar has McDonald in his guard.

McDonald drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and McDonald jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
McDonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well McDonald has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
