Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vittorino Merlino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zane Pinwan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vittorino Merlino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zane Pinwan!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinwan tries to clinch but Merlino moves out of range.
Zane Pinwan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pinwan is looking to clinch.
Pinwan moves in looking to clinch but Merlino pushes him off.
Pinwan moves to clinch but Merlino breaks away

and Merlino counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Merlino.
Merlino postures up in Pinwan's guard and throws a big left but Pinwan blocks it.
Pinwan keeping full guard, as Merlino tries to pass.
Merlino throws an elbow that misses. Pinwan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Merlino's guard. Nice move by Pinwan!
Merlino pulls Pinwan in close to his closed guard and prevents Pinwan from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vittorino Merlino.

Merlino shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Merlino pushes down on Pinwan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Merlino throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Merlino is trying to work for a kimura but Pinwan is defending well.

Merlino is trying for a kimura here. Pinwan looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Merlino wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Vittorino Merlino!
Our winner, Vittorino Merlino, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
