PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike De carolis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bo Aarons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Bo Aarons was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike De carolis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bo Aarons!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De carolis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Aarons looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

De carolis looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Aarons not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
De carolis stands up over Aarons, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Aarons wants to stand up but De carolis is controlling him.
De carolis trying to control but Aarons is working from the bottom.
De carolis pushes down on Aarons's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
De carolis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Aarons with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Aarons has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. De carolis is working away from the top position though.
Aarons works his way to full guard. Good work.
De carolis won't allow Aarons to get back to his feet.

Aarons has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but De carolis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
De carolis wants to control from the top but Aarons keeps moving.

Aarons looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Aarons has a closed guard, preventing De carolis from standing up.
De carolis might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by De carolis or perhaps it was just good defense by Aarons which made him look bad.

and De carolis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Aarons!
De carolis lands a big shot there that rocks Aarons but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Aarons is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
De carolis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Aarons is looking to get to half guard.

De carolis is working for a guillotine from mount but Aarons frees his head quite easily.

De carolis jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Aarons is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Aarons and De carolis has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De carolis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aarons keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De carolis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Aarons is not content to let De carolis control the position.

De carolis wants to work for an arm triangle but Aarons is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aarons tries to roll over but De carolis keeps him under control.
De carolis works his foot free and advances to mount.
De carolis trying to control but Aarons is having none of it.

De carolis cracks Aarons with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Aarons is desperately trying to improve his position but De carolis has a good base and remains in mount.
Aarons is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
De carolis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Aarons had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. De carolis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aarons Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take De carolis's back instead.

De carolis drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Aarons dives on top into guard.

De carolis has control of Aarons's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Aarons regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Aarons tries to hold on but De carolis postures up.

De carolis lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aarons feints and as De carolis raises his hands in defense, Aarons changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Aarons decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Aarons will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
De carolis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Aarons as he avoids it easily.
De carolis misses with a few strikes there.

De carolis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no De carolis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Aarons is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but De carolis has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The strikes coming from De carolis are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Aarons is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of De carolis's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take De carolis's back!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for De carolis, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
