PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by Darude - Sandstorm . Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Daniels!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Daniels, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Daniels against the cage but Daniels circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Daniels cracks Silva with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Silva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Daniels.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Daniels as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Daniels saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Silva fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Daniels manages to avoid it.

and Silva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Daniels swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Silva throws a strike but Daniels rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Daniels looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Silva chips away with some ground and pound.

Silva has an active guard here but Daniels has managed to pass into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Daniels is keen to just control but Silva is a slippery customer.

Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Daniels pulls his head out easily.

Silva makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Silva.

Daniels is looking to work some ground and pound but Silva has wrist control.
Daniels wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Daniels defends it easily.
Daniels throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Silva is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Daniels is aware though and is defending well.

Daniels postures up in Silva's guard and throws a big left but Silva blocks it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Daniels is working Silva over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniels takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
A left lands for Daniels.
Daniels defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva.

Silva closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Daniels quickly recovers to half guard.
Silva is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall.

Silva looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Silva works his foot free and advances to mount.

Daniels flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Daniels reaches up and holds on to Silva to control the position.

Silva quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Silva but it's paid off an Daniels is forced to tap! Nice work by Silva.
