The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doby swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Valenzuela counters with a big head kick but Doby shrugs it off.

Valenzuela closes the distance and clinches.
Doby is trying to break free.
Doby misses with a hook to the ribs.
Valenzuela is struggling to control the position.
Doby is trying to break the clinch but Valenzuela is controlling him.
Valenzuela makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Doby tries to circle away but Valenzuela has him pinned against the cage.

Valenzuela breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Doby throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Valenzuela tries to clinch but Doby is having none of it.
Valenzuela looks to score with a jab to the body but Doby is just out of range.

Shane Doby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Valenzuela breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Doby makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Doby keeps the fight on the outside.

Doby closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doby lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Valenzuela down.
