Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abid Shah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dan Rodgers!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shah closes the distance and clinches up with Rodgers, looking for a takedown. Shah pushes Rodgers against the cage but Rodgers circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Shah doesn't manage to clinch there - Rodgers circles away.
Rodgers takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Shah throws a head kick but Rodgers moves out of range.
Shah throws a sloppy head kick and Rodgers moves out of range easily.
Shah takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Rodgers tries to bum rush Shah with a series of wild strikes but Shah uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Rodgers fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shah has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rodgers.
Shah fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rodgers manages to avoid it.
Rodgers connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Rodgers gets in close and instigates a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Rodgers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


That kick from Rodgers tenderised Shah's leg. Shah is trying to keep his angry face on.
Dan Rodgers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodgers throws a right hand that Shah ducks under and follows up with a left that Shah also avoids with ease.
Rodgers stuffs the takedown.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Rodgers crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shah - the referee stops the clock and Rodgers gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shah. Rodgers manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

and Shah counters with a three punch combo that has Rodgers backing up. Rodgers nods at Shah to acknowledge the strikes.

Shah is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rodgers to keep the fight standing.

Shah jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rodgers walks away with a smile on his face. Shah gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Rodgers counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Shah is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Rodgers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shah tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rodgers is in Shah's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shah looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rodgers with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodgers lands a couple of elbows.
Shah tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Rodgers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rodgers trying to control but Shah is working from the bottom.

Shah working for a triangle but Rodgers defends it easily.
Rodgers distracts Shah with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Rodgers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Shah looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rodgers has picked Shah up and slammed him! Shah can't keep hold of the triangle and Rodgers manages to pass to side control!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rodgers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shah is trying to control Rodgers's posture but Rodgers avoids it.

Rodgers is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shah has escaped the position, nice work there.

Shah avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rodgers.

Rodgers looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rodgers cracks Shah with a big right hand but Shah just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Rodgers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Shah tries to bench press Rodgers off him but Rodgers keeps the position.
Rodgers scores with a couple of short elbows.

Rodgers postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Rodgers cracks Shah with a big right hand but Shah just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Rodgers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Shah, who protects the arm well.
Rodgers is looking to take a break and control but Shah is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Rodgers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
