PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Terreebley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brett Hatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brett Hatt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Terreebley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brett Hatt!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hatt pushes Terreebley up against the cage in a clinch.
Hatt misses with a short punch on the inside.
Terreebley has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hatt is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Hatt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Terreebley fails with the takedown.
Terreebley takes one to the side of the head.
Terreebley shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Terreebley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Terreebley fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hatt avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Terreebley. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A looping hook to the body misses from Hatt. Terreebley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Terreebley slips a jab from Hatt.
Terreebley tries for a takedown but Hatt circles away easily
and Hatt counters with a straight right hand.

Hatt closes the distance and clinches.

Hatt breaks the clinch.
Terreebley tries for a takedown but Hatt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Hatt darts in and clinches Terreebley up against the cage.
Terreebley tries to pull guard but Hatt holds him up against the cage and eventually Terreebley drops back down to his feet.

Hatt escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hatt misses the shot to the body.
Hatt fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Terreebley on the side of the head.
Terreebley slips under a jab.
Terreebley shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hatt but Hatt pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hatt lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Terreebley circles away quickly and effectively.
Terreebley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Terreebley is breathing heavily.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Hatt!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hatt throws a head kick but Terreebley moves out of range.
Terreebley misses with a takedown
and Hatt counters with a left to the body.
Hatt lands an overhand right.
Hatt moves into range and connects with a jab.
Terreebley misses with a takedown

and Hatt counters by clinching up.

Hatt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hatt throws a head kick that misses.
Terreebley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hatt tries to avoid it but Terreebley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hatt to the ground. Hatt escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hatt stuns Terreebley with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Hatt clinches with his opponent.

Hatt breaks the clinch.
Terreebley shoots in for a takedown but Hatt shows good takedown defense.
Hatt throws a head kick that Terreebley semi-blocks.
Hatt throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hatt thuds his shin into the meat of Terreebley's side.
Hatt defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Terreebley.

Hatt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Terreebley.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Terreebley.

Hatt closes the distance and pushes Terreebley back into the cage.

Hatt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No joy there for Hatt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Terreebley. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Terreebley shoots for a double leg takedown but Hatt sprawls well. He's pushed Terreebley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hatt clinches.

Hatt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice takedown defense from Hatt. No joy for Terreebley on that attempt.
Nice body punch from Hatt.
Hatt throws a head kick that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hatt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hatt looks to land a left hand but Terreebley moved out of range nicely.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Terreebley shoots in looking for a takedown but Hatt manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Terreebley's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Terreebley shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hatt pinned against the cage. Hatt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hatt missing with a left hand there. Terreebley was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Terreebley shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hatt sprawls well. Hatt wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Terreebley gets slowly back to his feet.
Terreebley has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hatt finds it's way round the side to connect with Terreebley's head.

A close second round but Brett Hatt will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Terreebley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Terreebley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Terreebley is looking for a triangle here but Hatt uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Hatt tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Terreebley is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Hatt decides to stand up, so the ref orders Terreebley to his feet.
Brett Hatt is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Brett Hatt comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hatt winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
