Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ac Res (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Irvin comes to the cage accompanied by Jimmy Eat World - Pain. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Irvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ac Res!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Res throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Irvin throws a low kick but Res moves out of range easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Irvin misses the target.
Irvin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Irvin wants it to stay on the feet.
Irvin stuffs the takedown attempt from Res. Res gets slowly back to his feet.
Res tries to score a power double leg takedown but Irvin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Res somewhat.
Bruce Irvin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ac Res.

Irvin has Res up against the cage in a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Irvin obliges.
Res is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Irvin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Irvin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Res tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Irvin smiles and moves away.

It looks like Ac Res has been cut.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Irvin.

Res is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Irvin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Irvin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Irvin dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Res takes an elbow to the forehead.
Res can't get the takedown.
Irvin goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Irvin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Res avoiding damage as Irvin throws knees to the body.
Irvin tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Res avoids it.

Res decides to pull guard.

Res had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Irvin defends it easily.

Res escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Irvin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Irvin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Irvin wants to pass the guard but Res is keeping the position.
Irvin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Res can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Irvin controls the pace.

Bruce Irvin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Res shoots in but Irvin avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Irvin gets caught napping as Res dives in and scores a takedown. Irvin manages to retain guard.
Irvin wants to stand up but Res is controlling him.

Res has gone for a leg lock! Irvin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Res's guard.

Irvin wants to control from the top but Res keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Res is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Irvin is aware though and is defending well.

Res throws his legs up looking for a submission but Irvin uses it to pass to side control.
Res tries to bench press Irvin off him but Irvin keeps the position.

Irvin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Irvin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Res keeps working.

Res is not content to let Irvin control the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Bruce Irvin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A nice inside leg kick there by Irvin. That's going to slow Res down.
Nice takedown defense from Irvin. No joy for Res on that attempt.
Res shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Irvin as he jumps to the side.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Irvin.

Irvin gets tackled into the cage by Res. Res maintains the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Res tries to pull guard but Irvin won't allow it.

Res pulls guard successfully.
Irvin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Res looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Irvin passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Ac Res's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Irvin can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.

Res throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Irvin tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Res is in Irvin's guard.

Res is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Irvin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Irvin has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Res is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Irvin defends well.

Irvin wants to control from the top but Res keeps moving.

Res is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Irvin sitting in guard, not really doing much.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Res has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Irvin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Res.
The referee asks Irvin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Irvin prefers to stall for the moment though.
Res is not content to let Irvin control the position.
Res manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Irvin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Irvin is doing well to control the position and prevent Res from advancing to side control.

Res tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Irvin swivels and escapes.

Res drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Irvin dives on top into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Irvin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Res has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Irvin has managed to get both his arms back between Res's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Res looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Irvin has picked Res up and slammed him! Res can't keep hold of the triangle and Irvin manages to pass to side control!
Irvin tries to advance to mount but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Irvin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Res has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Irvin.

Res fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Res shoots in but no luck this time.

Irvin lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Res to his knees! Irvin keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bruce Irvin!
