The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Gracie misses
and Reade counters with a body kick that stops Gracie in his tracks momentarily.
A telegraphed right hand from Gracie misses the target.
A solid body kick from Reade.
Reade defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.
Gracie throws a looping overhand right but Reade ducks down to avoid it.
Gracie misses with a looping left.
Gracie rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Reade counters with a slapping leg kick.

Reade's corner calls for a 1-2. Reade obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Gracie throws a hook to the side of Reade's head but Reade sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reade as he jumps to the side.
Gracie scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Reade steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gracie.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reade sprawls well. Reade wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura but Reade is defending well.
Reade really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Reade is looking to control Gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Reade avoid being mounted?

Taylor Reade has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Reade scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Gracie dives in and grabs Reade's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reade pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Reade.
Reade throws a leg kick which misses Gracie's front leg but catches the back leg as Gracie tries to avoid it.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Reade sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.

Reade fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Gracie is out of range.
A bone on bone clash there as Gracie blocks the leg kick.

Reade throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Reade defends it well.

Gracie has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gracie there as he acknowledges the shot.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Gracie stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Reade.
Gracie swings widly with a right hand
and Reade counters with a solid body kick.
Reade feints and then cracks Gracie's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gracie down.
Reade feints a jab and as Gracie dips his head, Reade unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Gracie right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Gracie falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Reade smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
