Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Foti Vasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasa's entrance music is Highway to Hell (AC/DC). A fine choice. Barron has chosen Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers as his entrance music. Phillip Barron has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Foti Vasa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Phillip Barron!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barron waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vasa.
Barron thows a leg kick but Vasa checks it
and Vasa counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Nice body kick there by Barron.
Barron connects with a right hand. Vasa shakes it off.
Barron lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Vasa shoots for a double leg takedown but Barron sprawls well. He's pushed Vasa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Barron's jab looks to have found its range, popping Vasa under the eye.
Vasa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Barron will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barron shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vasa napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Vasa is trying to buck Barron off.
Barron is trying to move to mount but Vasa reverses beautifully and ends up in Barron's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barron seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Vasa postures up in Barron's guard and throws a big left but Barron blocks it.

Vasa can't keep his opponent in guard - Barron advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Barron wants to pass to mount but Vasa is defending the position.

Barron is working for a submission of some sort.

Barron is looking to take a break and control but Vasa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Barron scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Vasa is looking for a sweep. Barron is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barron connects with a nice short shot to Vasa's temple.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Barron seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Vasa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Phillip Barron will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Barron throws a leg kick but Vasa sees it coming and moves out of range.
Barron blocks a head kick by Vasa.

Vasa misses with a takedown
and Barron cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Vasa throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Barron counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Phillip Barron has got the better of the ground game so far.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barron looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vasa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vasa won't allow Barron to pass to mount.
Vasa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barron is working away from the top position though.
Barron keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Barron trying to control from half guard but Vasa is working away.
Barron might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vasa kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Vasa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Barron pulls his head out easily.
Barron passes into side control, despite Vasa's attempt to control the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Barron postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Barron cracks Vasa with a big right hand but Vasa just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Barron in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Vasa tries to bench press Barron off him but Barron keeps the position.

Vasa tries to buck Barron off but Barron is having none of it.
Barron trying to control the position but Vasa is working away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barron lands a decent elbow from side control.
Barron has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Barron wants to control but Vasa is keeping him busy.

Barron looks up at the clock and then as Vasa takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barron smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Barron misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Vasa stops Barron from passing to mount.
Barron has knee on belly and moves into mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Barron cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Vasa is rocked!
Vasa is trying to escape the mount.
Oh Vasa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Barron connects with a bit shot that sees Vasa covering up! More strikes from Barron and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Barron is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Phillip Barron!
