PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Matos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rolf Krake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matos comes to the cage accompanied by Linkin Park - New Divide. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Matos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rolf Krake!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matos bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Krake feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Matoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Matos tries for a takedown but Krake circles away easily
and Krake counters with a left to the body.
Nice shot by Krake.
Krake fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Matos manages to avoid it.
Matos takes one on the chin but seems OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Krake shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Matos eats them both and turns towards Krake to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A punch lands to the side of Matos 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nice sprawl there from Krake as Matos shoots in.
Krake jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Matos avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Matos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Krake defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Matos. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Matos shoots in and bounces Krake off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Matos trying to control the position from guard on top but Krake is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Matos stops Krake from standing up.
Krake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Matos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Krake kicks Matos off and gets to his feet.
Matos thows a body shot but no joy.
Matos misses with a jab to the body
and Krake counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A telegraphed right hand from Matos misses the target.
Lucas Matos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matos drops his hands momentarily and Krake takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Krake misses with a wild body shot.

and Matos counters with a right hand to the body.
Matos cracks Krake with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Matos is trying hard to land a takedown here. Krake sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Matos is defended easily by Krake.

Krake is staying active underneath Matos, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Matos is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Krake doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Matos.

Matos frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Krake counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Matos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Krake sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Matos takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Matos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Krake tries to avoid it but Matos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Krake to the ground. Krake escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matos shoots in and drives through. Krake sprawls well.
Rolf Krake is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Krake missing with a left hand there. Matos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Krake misses with an uppercut. Matos saw that one coming.
Krake swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Matos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Krake is fending him off so far but Matos persists. Nope, Krake circles away and we're back to standing.

Matos throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Krake counters with a right hand to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matos dives in and grabs Krake's left leg, looking for a takedown. Krake pushes down on Matos's head and hops out.
Matos shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Krake counters with a left to the body.
Krake throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Krake drops Matos with a beautiful combination! Matos stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Krake is looking for the KO!


It looks like Lucas Matos has been cut.

Krake cracks Matos with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Matos looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Krake finish him?


Matos is rocked!
Krake scores with a jab to the body.
Oh Matos is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Krake throws a lazy right hand but Matos sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Matos seems to have got his legs back now.
Krake connects with a body shot that sends Matos's belly button to the back.
Matos moves out of range as Krake strikes.
Krake misses with a body shot.
Krake throws a jab when Matos was well out of range.
Krake slaps away a takedown attempt from Matos, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Matos on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Krake connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Matos's hands.
Krake looks to land a left hand but Matos moved out of range nicely.
