The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson tries to score with a low kick but Rockstar moves his leg out of the way.
Simpson swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Rockstar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Rockstar is stalling here.
Rockstar drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rockstar prevents Simpson from breaking the clinch.

Rockstar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rockstar has managed to clinch.
Rockstar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Simpson walks away with a smile on his face. Rockstar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Rockstar has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Rockstar dives in and grabs Simpson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Simpson pushes down on Rockstar's head and hops out.
Trevor Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ocho Rockstar.

Simpson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Rockstar paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rockstar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Rockstar drives through and clinches with Simpson against the cage.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Rockstar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Simpson clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Rockstar postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Simpson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Simpson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Rockstar gets to his feet - Simpson follows without any prompting.

Rockstar rushes Simpson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Simpson throws an elbow but misses.
Rockstar lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Simpson is trying to push Rockstar away but Rockstar has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rockstar jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Simpson walks away with a smile on his face. Rockstar gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Trevor Simpson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rockstar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Simpson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rockstar.

Rockstar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Simpson, who protects the arm well.

Simpson is pressed up against the cage. Rockstar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Simpson down to the mat. Simpson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Simpson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rockstar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Simpson has managed to get both his arms back between Rockstar's legs - danger averted.
