Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Garlin Liddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddle comes to the cage accompanied by eye of the tiger. Garlin Liddle has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Garlin Liddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brandon Richards!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddle throws a series of strikes that have Richards backpedaling.


It looks like Brandon Richards has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Richards looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A head kick misses from Liddle.
Liddle throws a series of punches but Richards moves out of range.
Richards doesn't manage to clinch there - Liddle circles away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Liddle. Richards does a little dance to reset his feet.
Liddle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A combination from Liddle does no damage.
Richards moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Liddle is breathing heavily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Liddle enables Richards to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Liddle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Richards wants to control from the top but Liddle keeps moving.

Richards gets to his feet. Liddle looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Richards scores a takedown into full mount!
Richards in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

You get the feeling that Liddle really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Richards is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Liddle has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Richards jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Liddle manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Richards is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Liddle has escaped the position, nice work there.
Richards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Liddle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Liddle is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Richards has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Liddle tries to bum rush Richards with a series of wild strikes but Richards uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Richards is looking to clinch but Liddle is avoiding it.
Richards moves forwards but Liddle connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Liddle throws a one two combo.
Liddle throws a head kick but Richards moves out of range.
Richards takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Liddle walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Richards checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Liddle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Richards circles away quickly and effectively.
Nice straight punches there by Liddle. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Liddle.
Richards tries to close the distance and clinch but Liddle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Liddle slaps away a takedown attempt from Richards, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Richards is defended easily by Liddle.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Garlin Liddle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Richards.

Liddle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That was a close round but I would say that Garlin Liddle will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Liddle throws a combination. Richards tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

and Richards makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Liddle really felt that one!

Richards throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Liddle's waist but Liddle gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Richards off to one side.

Richards shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Liddle defends it nicely.
Liddle throws a head kick that misses.
Richards shoots in looking for a takedown. Liddle tries to sprawl out of it but Richards keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Liddle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Liddle stalks Richards and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Richards's face. Richards staggers backwards, shaken.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Richards shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Liddle counters with a one-two to the body.

Richards fails with a takedown attempt.
Liddle throws a right hand that Richards ducks under and follows up with a left that Richards also avoids with ease.

Liddle gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Richards to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Liddle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Richards pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Liddle is keeping the position for now.

Liddle is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Richards is aware though and is defending well.

Richards got a little sloppy there for a moment and Liddle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Richards has managed to get both his arms back between Liddle's legs - danger averted.

Liddle wants to break free but Richards has control.
Liddle has had enough of the clinch but Richards keeps him there for the moment.
Richards is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Richards jumps guard but Liddle turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

and Richards holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Liddle moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Richards takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Liddle counters with a three punch combo that has Richards backing up. Richards nods at Liddle to acknowledge the strikes.

Richards drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Liddle manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Liddle looking for a triangle here. Richards is fighting it but it looks tight! Liddle pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Richards is tapping out - this one is all over!
