Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Gonzalez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenny Nero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzalez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Chan Chan by Buena Vista Social Club. Lenny Nero told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nero as he jumps to the side.
Gonzalez takes a swing at Nero's ribcage but misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Nero.
A solid leg kick lands there for Gonzalez.
Nero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
No luck for Gonzalez with that takedown attempt.
Nero looks for a takedown but Gonzalez sprawls well.
Gonzalez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Nice takedown defense from Nero. No joy for Gonzalez on that attempt.

Nero bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Gonzalez's head backwards.
Gonzalez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Nero blocks a low kick nicely.
Nero stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nero wants it to stay on the feet.
Gonzalez avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Nero is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Gonzalez had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Nero dives in and grabs Gonzalez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gonzalez pushes down on Nero's head and hops out.

Nero wants to free his trapped foot but Gonzalez is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Nero stops Gonzalez from getting back to his feet.

Nero is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Gonzalez is surviving well by controlling Nero's body position as best he can.

You get the feeling that Gonzalez really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Nero tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nero has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nero passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Gonzalez!

Nero throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Gonzalez because Nero loaded up on that one.
Nero sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Nero takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nero can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gonzalez is looking to escape.
Lenny Nero is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Nero throwing strikes here but Gonzalez is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Lenny Nero comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nero has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
