PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robin Hood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Ruud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hood comes to the cage accompanied by Whistle Robin. Ruud has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robin Hood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lars Ruud!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hood tries a head kick but it misses.
Ruud looks gassed!
Hood fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Ruud is out of range.
Ruud swats away the attempt to clinch by Hood.
Hood throws a leg kick which misses Ruud's front leg but catches the back leg as Ruud tries to avoid it.
Ruud tries to clinch but Hood moves away
and Hood finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
A clash of legs there as Ruud blocks the low kick.
Hood throws a head kick that misses.
A solid body kick from Hood.
Hood connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Jab, jab by Hood - just one landing.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hood, right into the meat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A right-left combo lands from Hood.

It looks like Lars Ruud has been cut.
Hood throws a nice looking combination but Ruud bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hood tries to clinch up but Ruud circles away and keeps his distance.
Ruud moves out of range as Hood throws a body kick.
Hood throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ruud.

Hood has Ruud up against the cage in a clinch.
Ruud avoids a wild elbow strike from Hood.
Hood lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ruud backwards.

Hood breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A jab lands there for Hood.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hood clinches up against the cage.
Hood comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Hood's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ruud walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ruud on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hood. Hood obviously looking to wear him down.
Hood cracks Ruud with a right hand to the side of the head.
Hood lands with a thumping leg kick.
That kick from Hood tenderised Ruud's leg. Ruud is trying to keep his angry face on.
Hood plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Ruud is rocked!
Hood feints and then cracks Ruud's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ruud down.
Ruud is still on wobbly legs! Can Hood finish him?
Hood tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hood clinches up against the cage.
Hood slowing the pace effectively.
Hood lands with a right to the head.

Hood's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hood clinches up with Ruud and pushes him back against the cage.
Hood lands a hook that snaps the head of Ruud backwards.

Hood breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hood jabs at Ruud's body.

Hood rushes Ruud and presses him up against the cage.

Hood escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ruud stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Hood.
Hood cracks Ruud with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Ruud tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Hood pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Ruud is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robin Hood!
