Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Nevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Nevsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rashad Evans!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans looks to land a left hand but Nevsky moved out of range nicely.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Nevsky, right into the meat.
Evans takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Evans loads up on a big right hand but Nevsky slips the punch.
Nevsky misses with an uppercut.
Rashad Evans seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans looks to land a left hand but Nevsky moved out of range nicely.
Nevsky steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Evans.

Evans gets caught napping as Nevsky dives in and scores a takedown. Evans manages to retain guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Nevsky postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Nevsky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nevsky throws a strike but Evans rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Evans throws an elbow that misses. Nevsky uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Evans's guard. Nice move by Nevsky!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Evans can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nevsky slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Evans really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nevsky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nevsky with shots to the head and body - Evans looks very uncomfortable down there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Evans pushes off an throws an elbow but Nevsky leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Nevsky has Evans pressed against the cage, preventing Evans from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Nevsky turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Nevsky manages to end up in side control.
