PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Marens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Connors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marens comes into the arena with Pittbull - Give me everything blaring out of the sound system. Connors has chosen Stinkfist by Tool as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connors fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marens fails with a takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Marens. Connors does a little dance to reset his feet.

Marens scores a takedown into full mount!

Marens moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Connors has worked his arm free - good work by Connors!
Connors tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Connors's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Connors gets back to half guard.
Marens is pressing down on Connors's thigh, looking to free his foot. Connors is holding on for now.

Marens drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Connors dives on top into guard.

Marens manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Connors checks a low kick from Marens.
Marens swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Connors shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Marens napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Connors looks gassed!
Marens tries to buck Connors off but Connors is having none of it.
Connors wants to stand but Marens has his arm trapped.

Connors looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Marens tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Connors working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marens is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Connors's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Marens is looking to control Connors's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marens avoid being mounted?
Connors prevents Marens from improving his position.

Marens is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Connors's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Connors's back!

Connors defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Marens's arms.

Marens looking to break Connors's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Connors remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Marens will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Connors grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Marens is not going to allow Connors to sit and survive in this position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Marens is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Connors is defending well though. Marens let's go of the attempt for now.

Connors turns into Marens and is now in his guard.
Marens is trying to control the position but Connors postures up.

Marens is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Connors defends well.

Marens is looking to sinch up a triangle. Connors throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Marens's body to avoid the submission. Marens has instead reached around Connors's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Marens arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

In his post fight interview, Jake Marens started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
