PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gon Jai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gon Jai told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Untouchable Fight Gear


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gon Jai!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva avoids the head kick by Jai.
Silva stuffs the takedown attempt from Jai. Jai gets slowly back to his feet.
Silva misses with a two punch combination.
Jai throws a head kick that half lands.
Silva lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.


It looks like Gon Jai has been cut.
Silva throws a right hand that Jai ducks under and follows up with a left that Jai also avoids with ease.
Silva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Silva moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Silva stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jai.
Silva takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Good shot there by Jai.
Jai scoring well with a low kick there.
Silva swings for the body but Jai moves out of range.
Jai lands a leg kick that knocks Silva off balance momentarily.
Jai is looking to slow Silva down with leg kicks.
Jai throws a sloppy head kick and Silva moves out of range easily.
Donk. Silva catches Jai right on the button with a cross.
Jai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Both fighters circling a little - Jai finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jai shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jai takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Silva avoids the head kick by Jai.
A jab lands there for Jai.
A big left from Silva misses.
Silva avoids the body shot from Jai.
Jai misses with a two punch combination.
Jai explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Jai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jai plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva closes the distance and lands a one-two.


That has opened up Gon Jai's cut even more.
Silva is pawing at Jai, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Jai's nose. Jai is badly hurt! Silva pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Jai tries desperately to hold on but Silva is relentless in his assault! As Jai receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Silva away and this one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mauricio Silva!
