The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo throws a sloppy head kick and Mariano moves out of range easily.
A head kick misses from Aldo.
Aldo tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mariano was well out of range. Poor timing from Aldo.
Aldo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Aldo misses with a hook. Mariano ducked under it nicely.
Mariano tries to clinch but Aldo moves out of range.
Aldo swings for the body but Mariano moves out of range.
Aldo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mariano , pushing him back against the cage.
Mariano is working for takedown but Aldo is calmly controlling the position for now.
Mariano is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Aldo pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Aldo breaks from the clinch.
A telegraphed right hand from Aldo misses the target.
Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mariano fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Aldo sprawls well initially but Mariano persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Mariano wants to pass to mount but Aldo is defending the position.
Mariano is working for a submission of some sort.
Mariano is trying for a kimura here. Aldo looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Mariano wins by kimura!
