PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Corey Haim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haim comes to the cage accompanied by 99 luft Balons . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Corey Haim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nate Anderson!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haim misses with a takedown attempt - Anderson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A punch combination from Anderson misses.
Anderson looks to land a combination but Haim avoids it well.
Haim avoids a punch combination nicely.
Anderson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Anderson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Haim.
Haim dodges the punch combination from Anderson.
Anderson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Haim circles away quickly and effectively.

Haim drives through with a takedown into Anderson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Haim drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Haim jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Haim is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Anderson is just riding it out for now. Haim eventually gives up the hold.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Haim tries to score a power double leg takedown but Anderson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haim somewhat.
Anderson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Haim counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Anderson thinking.

Haim closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Anderson pushes Haim away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Haim gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Anderson wants to get back to his feet but Haim drags him back down.

Corey Haim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Haim swings around for an armbar but Anderson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Haim's guard.

Haim has his foot on Anderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Anderson works his way back into a safe position though.

Anderson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Anderson wants to get back to his feet but Haim is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Anderson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Anderson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Haim throws a right and a left that both miss.
Anderson connects with a nice looking jab.

Haim looking to score a takedown here. Anderson is defending well but Haim drives through and ends up in Anderson's guard.

Haim drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Anderson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Haim has Anderson in his guard.
Anderson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Haim is proving hard to escape from.

Haim is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Anderson has his hands clasped together but Haim extends an breaks Anderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Haim.
