Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Murthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fenix ma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ma will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
ma shoots in for a takedown but Murthy shows good takedown defense.
No luck for Murthy with that takedown attempt.

ma closes the distance and clinches.
The referee calls for ma to work.
Murthy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. ma avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

ma is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Fenix ma.
ma throws a nice looking combination but Murthy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
ma shoots in but Murthy avoids the takedown attempt easily.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fenix ma hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

ma working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Murthy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Murthy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fenix ma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Murthy got a little sloppy there for a moment and ma has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murthy has managed to get both his arms back between ma's legs - danger averted.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Murthy drops back looking for a leg! ma is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and ma manages to kick Murthy off! Murthy jumps back into ma's guard.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
