PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Bowman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Blatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bowman comes into the arena with Dark Tranquillity - Misery's Crown blaring out of the sound system. Blatt has chosen you're going down- sick puppies as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blatt stuns Bowman with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Blatt walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bowman takes a swing at Blatt's ribcage but misses.
Bowman slips under a jab from Blatt.
Blatt throws the left hand but Bowman avoids the punch easily.
Bowman thuds his right hand into Blatt's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
A jab from Blatt misses.
Blatt just misses with a punch to the body.
A head kick from Bowman lands but Blatt takes it in his stride.

It looks like Jeff Blatt has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Blatt lands with a straight right. Bowman didn't see that one coming.

Bowman pushes Blatt up against the cage in a clinch.
Bowman lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Bowman goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Blatt makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Bowman swings wildly with an uppercut but Blatt uses good head movement to avoid it.

Blatt digs a right hand underneath Bowman's ribcage. Bowman let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Blatt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bowman smiles and moves away.
Blatt scores with a jab to the jaw.
Blatt digs a good body shot into Bowman's ribs.
Blatt fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bowman does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Blatt scores with a crisp jab that stopped Bowman in his tracks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A telegraphed right hand from Blatt misses the target.
Blatt looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bowman scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Blatt fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blatt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Bowman throws out the jab.

Bowman scores with a leg kick.
Bowman is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Bowman misses with a series of wild punches.
Bowman thumps Blatt with a low kick.

Blatt shoots in for a takedown but Bowman shows good takedown defense.
Blatt moves out of range of the strikes.
Bowman tries to work over Blatt's front leg with a kick but Blatt checks it.
Bowman misses with the combination.
Blatt checks a low kick from Bowman.
Blatt throws a hook to the side of Bowman's head but Bowman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bowman fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Blatt.

Blatt takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Blatt bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bowman's head backwards.
Bowman throws out a loose jab but Blatt uses good head movement to avoid it.
No joy there for Blatt, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bowman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Good leg kick by Bowman there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Bowman lands a nice shot that snaps Blatt's head back.
Bowman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Blatts jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Blatt throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bowman just misses with a punch to the body.
Bowman thumps Blatt with a low kick.
Blatt takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Blatt shoots in but Bowman avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pete Bowman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Blatt.

Blatt is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Blatt avoids the body shot from Bowman.
Blatt steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bowman.
Blatt throws the left hand but Bowman avoids the punch easily.
Blatt swings for the body but Bowman moves out of range.

Bowman connects with a leg kick. Blatt looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Bowman lands with a nice body kick.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pete Bowman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bowman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Blatt moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Blatt on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
