Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Omar Ortega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vivek Sai!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sai shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Some wild striking there from Ortega.
Nice sprawl there from Ortega as Sai shoots in.
Ortega throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ortega throws a head kick that Sai semi-blocks.


It looks like Vivek Sai has been cut.
Sai shoots for a double leg takedown but Ortega sprawls well. He's pushed Sai's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Omar Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vivek Sai.
Ortega tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sai was well out of range. Poor timing from Ortega.
Ortega tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sai swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Sai counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Omar Ortega has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sai shoots in for a double leg but Ortega sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ortega misses with an uppercut.
Sai uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ortega.
Ortega lunges at Sai with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sai's hand.
Sai fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Ortega has Sai up against the cage in a clinch.
Ortega could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Sai pushes off an throws an elbow but Ortega leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Ortega is trying to stall.
Sai tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ortega misses with the head strike.
Sai tries to pull guard but Ortega forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Ortega working hard to break the clinch.

Sai decides to pull guard.
Ortega wants to stand but Sai is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sai seems keen to control Ortega's posture.

Sai had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ortega defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sai managing to control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ortega misses with the combination.

Ortega looks to land a combination but Sai avoids it well.

Ortega is looking to slow Sai down with leg kicks.
Ortega buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sai shoots in looking for a takedown but Ortega manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sai's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ortega looks to land a left hand but Sai moved out of range nicely.
Sai tries to clinch but Ortega is having none of it.
Ortega buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Ortega throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sai sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ortega wants to clinch.
Ortega tries to clinch up but Sai circles away and keeps his distance.

Sai shoots in for a takedown but Ortega shows good takedown defense.

Sai has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sai blocks an uppercut.
Ortega trying to control the position but instead, Sai has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ortega into the cage.

Ortega escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ortega stuffs the takedown attempt from Sai. Sai gets slowly back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sai drives through and clinches with Ortega against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A frustrated look appears on Ortega's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ortega working aggressively here.
Ortega keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sai's efforts to push away.
Ortega trying to control the position but instead, Sai has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ortega into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sai throws a leg kick but Ortega checks it.
Sai with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ortega to score with a decent uppercut.
Sai avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ortega with a hook.
Ortega tries to clinch but Sai moves out of range.
Sai uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ortega.
Sai is looking to clinch but Ortega is avoiding it.

Sai closes the distance and clinches.
Ortega working hard to break the clinch.
Ortega prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ortega looking to stall.
Sai has had enough of the clinch but Ortega keeps him there for the moment.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Ortega throws an elbow but it misses.

Sai jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ortega walks away with a smile on his face. Sai gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ortega is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A head kick from Ortega lands but Sai takes it in his stride.

Ortega misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sai.
Sai fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sai is breathing heavily.
Sai tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ortega sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sai somewhat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ortega has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sai is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Ortega tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Ortega.
Ortega misses with a hook from the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Ortega.
Sai keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ortega's efforts to push away.
Ortega doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

A knee to the head by Ortega.
Ortega tries to stall but Sai uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Sai can't break the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Ortega.
Ortega misses with a punch to the body.
Ortega swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Ortega is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Ortega gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Sai.
Ortega trying to control the position but instead, Sai has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ortega into the cage.
Sai wants a takedown but no success here.

Ortega's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ortega dips to his left and cracks Sai with an uppercut!


That has opened up Vivek Sai's cut even more.
Ortega circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Sai drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Ortega follows Sai to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Omar Ortega!
Omar Ortega gave a mention to Global Empire MMA Gear in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
