Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Stolen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Azrael Angel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Stolen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Azrael Angel!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stolen fails with the takedown
and Angel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Stolen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Angel shoots in for a takedown but Stolen shows good takedown defense.
Angel scores with a spinning back kick!
Stolen with a lazy takedown attempt

and Angel counters with a shoot takedown. Stolen fights it but they end up in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Angel slips nicely into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Angel content to control rather than advance.

Angel is stalling here. Stolen is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Angel seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Stolen has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Angel tries to buck Stolen off but Stolen is having none of it.

Stolen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Angel keeps working.

Stolen decides to stand back up. Stolen steps back and let's Angel get back to his feet.
Angel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stolen defends it nicely.
Angel stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Stolen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Stolen counters with a single leg into guard. Angel didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Stolen wants to free his trapped foot but Angel is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Angel pushes Stolen off and gets back to his feet.
Ryan Stolen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Horrible takedown by Stolen or perhaps it was just good defense by Angel which made him look bad.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Angel tries to clinch there but Stolen circles away.

Stolen dives in and scores a takedown into Angel's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Stolen will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stolen shoots in for a double leg but Angel sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Angel scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Angel cracks Stolen with an open hand slap.

Stolen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Angel's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Azrael Angel hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stolen shoots in looking for a takedown but Angel manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stolen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ryan Stolen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Angel is breathing heavily.

Stolen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Angel leaves Stolen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Angel is doing well to control the position and prevent Stolen from advancing to side control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stolen in particular looking to stall.
Angel is looking to control Stolen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Angel avoid being mounted?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Angel fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Angel throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Stolen moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
No luck for Stolen with that takedown attempt.
Angel fakes the leg kick and cracks Stolen in the body.
Angel connects with a solid leg kick.
Angel shoots in looking for a takedown. Stolen tries to sprawl out of it but Angel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stolen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Angel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stolen shoots in but no luck this time.
Angel closes the distance and clinches up with Stolen, looking for a takedown. Angel pushes Stolen against the cage but Stolen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ryan Stolen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Azrael Angel.
Angel shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Stolen eats them both and turns towards Angel to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Angel parries the strikes from Stolen easily there. Stolen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Angel to escape.

Stolen tries to move into full mount but can't pass Angel's legs.
Angel wants to control but Stolen postures up.
Stolen wants to control but Angel is keeping him busy.
Angel is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Stolen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Angel keeps working.

Stolen is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Angel is trying to escape and Stolen transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Angel is forced to tap! Nice work there by Stolen! Very nice indeed!
