The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sobotta fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Davis to the ground. Sobotta is now in Davis's guard.
Davis looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Davis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sobotta controls the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sobotta pushes down on Davis's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Sobotta stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Davis to get to his feet.

Sobotta is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Davis's half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sobotta is taking a breather. Davis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Davis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sobotta's waist but Sobotta gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davis off to one side.

Davis is working an open guard so Sobotta takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Sobotta forces Davis back against the cage and clinches.

Sobotta turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sobotta manages to end up in side control.

Sobotta has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Davis is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Sobotta yanks on the arm and Davis is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Sobotta.
