PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Holmes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Aviles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holmes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is "Unsettling Differences" by Blue Smock Nancy. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aviles gets tackled into the cage by Holmes. Holmes maintains the clinch.
Aviles jumps guard but Holmes stands there with Aviles around his waist. Aviles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Aviles escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick from Aviles lands but Holmes takes it in his stride.

Holmes pushes Aviles up against the cage in a clinch.
Aviles has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Holmes after a bit of a struggle.

Holmes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Aviles throws an elbow that misses. Holmes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Aviles's guard. Nice move by Holmes!
Aviles is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Holmes is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Holmes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Holmes slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Holmes passes Aviles's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aviles trying to control from the bottom.
Holmes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Aviles tries to roll over but Holmes keeps him under control.
Aviles is trying to stand back up but Holmes is controlling him
Aviles tries to get to full guard but Holmes has control of the leg.
Holmes seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Holmes quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Holmes but it's paid off an Aviles is forced to tap! Nice work by Holmes.
