PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Sarnavskiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Sarnavskiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Antonio Bear!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bear rushes Sarnavskiy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bear lands an elbow inside that Sarnavskiy shrugs off.
Bear tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Sarnavskiy successfully pulls guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Bear wanted to stand there but Sarnavskiy had control of the position.
Bear wants to stand and escape but instead Sarnavskiy has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Bear utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Bear keeping moving, preventing Sarnavskiy from controlling successfully.

Sarnavskiy drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sarnavskiy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sarnavskiy working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Sarnavskiy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sarnavskiy drops back looking for a leg! Bear is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bear manages to kick Sarnavskiy off! Sarnavskiy jumps back into Bear's guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Bear really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sarnavskiy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bear wriggles free and stands up.

Bear is looking to clinch but Sarnavskiy is avoiding it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Sarnavskiy shoots in for a double leg but Bear sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sarnavskiy tries for a takedown but Bear sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bear looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bear moves in looking to clinch but Sarnavskiy pushes him off.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sarnavskiy has a closed guard, preventing Bear from standing up.
Sarnavskiy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sarnavskiy pushes Bear off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Bear moves in looking to clinch but Sarnavskiy pushes him off.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sarnavskiy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sarnavskiy fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bear avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alexander Sarnavskiy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bear is looking to clinch but Sarnavskiy is avoiding it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bear blocks the body kick.
Bear is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sarnavskiy keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Sarnavskiy will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bear can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sarnavskiy wants to take a breather but Bear is having none of it.
Bear has hold of Sarnavskiy's hands but Sarnavskiy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Sarnavskiy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sarnavskiy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Sarnavskiy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bear doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sarnavskiy.

Bear pushes Sarnavskiy off looking to stand but Sarnavskiy dives back in and keeps control.
Alexander Sarnavskiy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sarnavskiy is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bear is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
