The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grown cracks Velasquez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Grown lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Velasquez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Grown to score with a decent uppercut.
Grown is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Velasquez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Home Grown.
Horrible takedown by Velasquez or perhaps it was just good defense by Grown which made him look bad.

Grown misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Velasquez feints and as Grown raises his hands in defense, Velasquez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Grown wants to stand and escape but Velasquez is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Home Grown will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Velasquez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grown's waist but Grown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Velasquez off to one side.

Velasquez shoots in for a double leg but Grown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Grown lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Velasquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Grown throws a nasty head kick that just misses. He throws another kick to the head of his opponent and almost takes it off! Velasquez crumples to the floor and the fight is over!
