PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Manuel Tonga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TIberio Norris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Norris comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Killers - Jenny was a friend of mine kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tonga misses with a double jab.
Norris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A combination from Tonga does no damage.
Norris lands with a hook. Tonga tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Tonga misses with a wild combination.
Tonga throws a right hand that Norris ducks under and follows up with a left that Norris also avoids with ease.
Norris showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Tonga.
Norris lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tonga circles away quickly and effectively.
Tonga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Norris as he avoids it easily.

Norris throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tonga tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Norris is in Tonga's guard.

Norris seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tonga wants to stand but Norris is controlling the position.
Norris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

It looks like Manuel Tonga has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tonga wants to get back to his feet but Norris is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Norris slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Tonga is working to avoid the ground and pound but Norris connects with a decent elbow.

Tonga is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Norris asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Norris lands an elbow.
Tonga takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Tonga is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Norris has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Norris is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Tonga's shoulder. That is not cool.
