PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drako Vonstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dic Cheddars (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vonstein kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is AC/DC Thunderstruck (techno). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Drako Vonstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Dic Cheddars!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vonstein tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cheddars sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vonstein somewhat.
Cheddars tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Cheddars takes the fight into the clinch.
Cheddars misses with a body punch.
Cheddars is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cheddars lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Drako Vonstein has been cut.
Cheddars tries to stall but Vonstein uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Vonstein is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cheddars pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Vonstein jumps guard and drags Cheddars to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Vonstein is looking for a triangle but Cheddars pushes his legs off easily.

Cheddars avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cheddars throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Vonstein works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cheddars trying to control but Vonstein is working from the bottom.
Vonstein might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cheddars has gone for a leg lock! Vonstein slips out almost immediately though and dives into Cheddars's guard.

Vonstein thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Vonstein drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vonstein jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Cheddars tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Vonstein postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Cheddars is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vonstein, into his guard.
Vonstein looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cheddars is one step ahead there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vonstein has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cheddars can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cheddars with a flurry of punches that miss.

Vonstein escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cheddars gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cheddars postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Vonstein pushes a forearm under Cheddars's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Cheddars is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Drako Vonstein!
