Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Diego Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuta Kawashima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryuta Kawashima is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Diego Brandao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryuta Kawashima!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawashima shoots in looking for a takedown but Brandao manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kawashima's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kawashima fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Brandao sprawls well initially but Kawashima persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Brandao wants to control but Kawashima is keeping busy.
Brandao is looking for a sweep. Kawashima is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Brandao is looking to control Kawashima's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Brandao avoid being mounted?

We're going to have a standup here because Diego Brandao wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Brandao throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawashima's waist but Kawashima gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brandao off to one side.
Kawashima fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kawashima shoots in but no luck this time.
Brandao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kawashima as he avoids it easily.
Kawashima misses with the combination.
Kawashima will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kawashima dives in and grabs Brandao's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brandao pushes down on Kawashima's head and hops out.
Diego Brandao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryuta Kawashima.

Brandao shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kawashima defends it nicely.
Brandao tries to close the distance and clinch but Kawashima swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brandao shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kawashima pinned against the cage. Kawashima gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kawashima has a takedown stuffed.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kawashima trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Brandao tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Brandao looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kawashima is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Brandao has his foot on Kawashima's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kawashima works his way back into a safe position though.
Kawashima throws an elbow that misses. Brandao uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kawashima's guard. Nice move by Brandao!
Kawashima controls Brandao momentarily but Brandao frees himself.
Kawashima looks gassed!

Kawashima really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brandao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kawashima pulls Brandao in to control the position.
Kawashima tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Brandao is pushing down on Kawashima's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kawashima is fighting to maintain full guard but Brandao has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brandao tries to stand but can't do so whilst Kawashima controls his leg.
Brandao is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kawashima is refusing to be controlled, as Brandao sits in half guard.

Brandao keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Brandao keeps the fight on the outside.
Ryuta Kawashima seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some wild striking there from Brandao.
Kawashima has a takedown stuffed.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kawashima.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brandao shoots in for a takedown but Kawashima shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brandao doesn't manage to clinch there - Kawashima circles away.
Kawashima shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brandao pinned against the cage. Brandao gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ryuta Kawashima will probably get the nod.
That's time! Brandao's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Kawashima gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kawashima is trying to keep Brandao in close.
Brandao passes Kawashima's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Brandao throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Brandao is controlling the pace.

Kawashima wants to get back to full guard but Brandao has passed into side control.
Brandao is staying tight to Kawashima's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Kawashima is trying to work for a sweep but Brandao has mounted him!

Kawashima takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Kawashima is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Kawashima is breathing heavily.

Kawashima is looking to improve his position but Brandao isn't that keen on the idea.

Brandao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Diego Brandao.

Brandao has Kawashima up against the cage in a clinch.
Kawashima lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Kawashima wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Brandao has him pressed against the cage.
Brandao has Kawashima pressed against the cage, preventing Kawashima from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Brandao gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Brandao winds up and cracks Kawashima with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kawashima kicks Brandao off and gets back to his feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diego Brandao dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Kawashima closes the distance and clinches.
Kawashima has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brandao is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Kawashima is working for takedown but Brandao is calmly controlling the position for now.

Kawashima is trying to drag Brandao to the mat but Brandao just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Kawashima takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Nice takedown defense from Kawashima. No joy for Brandao on that attempt.
Brandao shoots for a double leg takedown but Kawashima sprawls well. He's pushed Brandao's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Brandao counters with a single leg into guard. Kawashima didn't expect that.

Brandao sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kawashima's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kawashima is looking to get back to is feet but Brandao passes into side control.

Brandao has hold of Kawashima's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Kawashima seems comfortable defending it but Brandao has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Kawashima is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Kawashima is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Brandao couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Diego Brandao!
A less than humble Diego Brandao misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
