The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tanner fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Simpson sprawls well initially but Tanner persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like Tanner is going to stand back up.
Simpson trying to hold on to Tanner's head to control him but Tanner postures up.
Tanner tries to stand and escape but Simpson is controlling the position.
Tanner seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Simpson gets full guard.
Tanner won't allow Simpson to sweep him here.
Tanner tries to free his leg and advance position but Simpson is retaining full guard.

Simpson is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Tanner frees his head nicely. Oh but Simpson has switched to an armbar! Tanner is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
