PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alessandro Sokker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Eminem - Superman. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell misses with a straight right.
Sokker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Liddell's waist but Liddell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sokker off to one side.
Sokker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Liddell swivels and escapes.
Liddell takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Liddell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Sokker throws a right hand that Liddell ducks under and follows up with a left that Liddell also avoids with ease.
Liddell just misses with a punch to the body.
Sokker shoots for a double leg takedown but Liddell sprawls well. He's pushed Sokker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Charlie Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alessandro Sokker.
No luck for Sokker with that takedown attempt.

Liddell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sokker trying to mount his opponent but Liddell defends it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sokker's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Liddell is looking to get to half guard.
Liddell is trying to stand but he's just given Sokker his back.
Sokker controls the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Liddell tries to escape but Sokker has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Liddell looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Sokker looking for the choke but no joy.

Sokker working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Liddell is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Sokker slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Liddell turns into Sokker and is now in his guard.

Sokker is adopting a defensive guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Liddell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sokker swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sokker looking for a sweep. Not yet Sokker, not yet.
Liddell wants to stand but Sokker has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Sokker wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Alessandro Sokker.
Sokker tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Liddell was well out of range. Poor timing from Sokker.
Sokker wants to clinch up but Liddell keeps it at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Liddell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Liddell digs a good hook to Sokker's body.
Sokker takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Sokker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Liddell as he avoids it easily.
Nice shot lands for Liddell.
Sokker misses with a straight right.
Sokker slips under a jab from Liddell.
Sokker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Liddell scores with a punch to the head.
Liddell sizes up Sokker with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Horrible takedown by Sokker or perhaps it was just good defense by Liddell which made him look bad.

Liddell misses with a hook. Sokker ducked under it nicely.
Sokker takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sokker looks to throw the jab but Liddell is out of range.

Sokker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Liddell tries a body shot but Sokker blocks it.
Liddell presses Sokker against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Sokker wants to break free but Liddell has control.

Liddell swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Sokker is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Liddell gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Liddell lands a left hand.
Liddell misses with a body punch.
Sokker trying to control the position but instead, Liddell has worked for underhooks and has pushed Sokker into the cage.
Liddell prevents the takedown attempt.
Liddell lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Liddell prevents a takedown attempt there.

Sokker takes a body punch but keeps moving.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Liddell fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Liddell flashes Sokker a smile before throwing a beast of a right hand, straight down the pipe. Sokker's eyes follow the hand right onto his nose, taking in it's full glory... and then darkness. Sokker crumples to the floor! He's out cold! Liddell punches the air and yells at the top of his lungs - yeeeeeeeeeeah!!!! This one is all over!
