PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Relentless AD (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vlad Impaler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vlad Impaler told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Impaler finds it's target.
AD shoots for a takedown but Impaler saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Impaler scores with a sloppy right hand. AD should have avoided that one.
Impaler scores with a jab to the head.

AD looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
AD throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Impaler keeping full guard, as AD tries to pass.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Impaler pulls AD in close to his closed guard and prevents AD from doing any damage or advancing position.
AD pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Impaler is keeping the position for now.

AD throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
AD lands a couple of elbows.
AD forces his way into half guard.
Impaler is pressing down on AD's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

AD drops back, looking for a kneebar! Impaler looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Impaler looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Impaler!

Impaler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
AD on the wrong end of some ground and pound.

Impaler wants to control but AD is keeping him busy.
AD seems a little lost for a moment, as Impaler dominates the positioning.
AD is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Impaler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. AD knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
AD is looking to reverse the position.
AD striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Impaler connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused AD some visible discomfort.
AD is trying to work for a sweep but Impaler has mounted him!
Impaler controlling from mount.
BOOM! Impaler connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Impaler lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
AD is looking to improve his position but Impaler isn't that keen on the idea.
Impaler looking to control but AD is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Impaler lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Impaler cracks AD with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Impaler wants to control the pace but AD is squirming around nicely.
AD is bucking up trying to escape but Impaler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Impaler lands a big elbow - AD is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and AD is forced to tap out!
