PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcos Alejandro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richie McCaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcos Alejandro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Richie McCaw!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCaw ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alejandro tries to clinch up
and McCaw counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McCaw lands a body shot.
Alejandro tries to clinch
and McCaw connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McCaw lands a two punch combo.
McCaw lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Alejandro looks to clinch
and McCaw makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McCaw changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

McCaw shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Alejandro manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCaw is taking a breather. Alejandro says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
McCaw's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

McCaw wants to work for an arm triangle but Alejandro is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

McCaw pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Alejandro back to the cage. McCaw follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Alejandro takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
McCaw feints a jab promting Alejandro to slip. McCaw then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Alejandro slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A lazy left from McCaw finds it's target.


Alejandro is rocked!
Marcos Alejandro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alejandro wants to clinch but McCaw slips to the side
and McCaw counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Oh Alejandro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
McCaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alejandro.
McCaw lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Alejandro at a distance.
Alejandro seems to have got his legs back now.
McCaw connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

McCaw lands with an uppercut that bounces Alejandro off the cage and back into range.

and McCaw counters with a three punch combo that has Alejandro backing up. Alejandro nods at McCaw to acknowledge the strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Richie McCaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McCaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
