Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dan The Handsome (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matheus Sampaio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Handsome throws a head kick that misses.
Sampaio takes a shot right to the bread basket.

The Handsome moves into the clinch.
Sampaio prevents The Handsome from breaking the clinch.

Sampaio has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Handsome uses from the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The Handsome postures up in Sampaio's guard and throws a big left but Sampaio blocks it.

The Handsome is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sampaio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The Handsome wants to work for an arm triangle but Sampaio is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sampaio is trying to stand up here but The Handsome is controlling him well.

The Handsome really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The Handsome 's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Sampaio is trying to control but can't.

Well, if The Handsome is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dan The Handsome just wasn't active enough.
Sampaio shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as The Handsome sprawls well. The Handsome wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sampaio gets slowly back to his feet.

The Handsome closes the distance and clinches.

The Handsome has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sampaio regains guard immediately.

The Handsome drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and The Handsome jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The Handsome loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sampaio really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Handsome . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sampaio controls The Handsome momentarily but The Handsome frees himself.
The Handsome lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The Handsome pushes down on Sampaio's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The Handsome is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The Handsome is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The Handsome looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The Handsome is nestled in close to Sampaio, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sampaio gets caught flat footed, as The Handsome shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
