PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Optimus Prime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miles Long (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Prime might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Metalingus by Alter Bridge. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Optimus Prime!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Miles Long!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Long throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Prime.
Prime tests Long's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Miles Long has been cut.
Prime swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Prime misses with a few strikes there.
Prime chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Long can pounce on him.
Long throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Prime tests Long's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Prime slips a jab and a cross from Long.
Prime dodges the punch combination from Long.
Long lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Long fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Prime throws a right and a left that Long avoids nicely.
Long shoots in but no luck this time.
Prime waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Long.
Long bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Long takes a swing at Prime's ribcage but misses.
Long connects with a body shot that sends Prime's belly button to the back.
Prime lands with an overhand left.
Long slips under a jab from Prime.
Prime jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Long moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Long misses with a few strikes there.

Prime dives in and scores a takedown into Long's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Long looking for a sweep. Not yet Long, not yet.

Long looking for subs off his back but Prime has passed one foot through into half guard.

Long actively working from the bottom here.
Prime thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Long's head.
Prime stalling.
Prime is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Long gets full guard.
Prime is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Prime postures up in Long's guard and throws a big left but Long blocks it.

Long looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Long wants to sweep here but Prime controlling him for the moment.
Prime is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Long looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Prime drops back looking for a leg! Long is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Long manages to kick Prime off! Prime jumps back into Long's guard.
Prime lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Long working for a triangle but Prime defends it easily.

Prime avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Long working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Prime.

Long is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Prime trying to control but Long is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Prime chips away with some ground and pound.

That has opened up Miles Long's cut even more.

Long escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Prime gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Optimus Prime will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Miles Long's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Long falls off balance throwing a combination
and Prime counters with a straight right hand.
Long displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Long shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Prime's guard.
Long throws an elbow that misses. Prime uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Long's guard. Nice move by Prime!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Prime working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Long's head.

Long had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Prime defends it easily.

Long is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Prime defends well.
Prime not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Prime distracts Long with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Long working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Prime doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Prime manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Prime works over Long with some ground and pound from guard.

Long is rocked!
Prime is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Long is still in real trouble! Can Prime finish him?
Prime loads up on a big left hand. Long felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Prime looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Long can't hide his disappointment, as Prime celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Optimus Prime!
Optimus Prime decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
