The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Champ misses its intended target.
Bill Champ seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Champ closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gunn quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Champ uses his free foot to push down on Gunn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gunn.

Champ is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gunn has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gunn!

Champ is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gunn defends well.

Champ escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gunn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gunn wants to control from the top but Champ keeps moving.
Gunn might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Champ kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Champ wants to stand but Gunn is controlling the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Champ is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Champ throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Champ displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Gunn throws out the jab.

Gunn looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Champ is defending well. Gunn quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Champ has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Gunn celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
