PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jakob Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Samuel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander comes to the cage accompanied by ULTRAnumb. Samuel has chosen Unusual as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Jakob Alexander has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jakob Alexander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Samuel!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jonathan Paton and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samuel throws a right hand that Alexander ducks under and follows up with a left that Alexander also avoids with ease.
Alexander throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Samuel shoots in for a takedown but Alexander shows good takedown defense.

Samuel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Alexander was covering up waiting for the punch and Samuel finishes the takedown easily into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Samuelis looking to pass into half guard but Alexander pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Alexander is in guard.
Alexander wanted to stand there but Samuel had control of the position.
Samuel is looking to stand up but Alexander isn't so interested in that idea.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Samuel can do anything to dispel that myth.
Alexander wants to control from the top but Samuel keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alexander prevents Samuel from getting back to his feet.
Samuel is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jakob Alexander.
Samuel misses with a takedown attempt
enabling Alexander to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like George Samuel has been cut.

Samuel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Alexander throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Alexander is looking to stand up but Samuel isn't so interested in that idea.
Samuel with a flurry of punches that miss.

Alexander had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Samuel defends it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Alexander is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Samuel is aware though and is defending well.
Samuel is looking to work some ground and pound but Alexander has wrist control.
Samuel postures up in Alexander's guard and throws a big left but Alexander blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Samuel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alexander working for a triangle but Samuel defends it easily.
Samuel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Samuel trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Samuel chips away with some ground and pound.
Samuel throws a strike but Alexander rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Samuel keeping moving, preventing Alexander from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Samuel wriggles free and stands up.
Alexander fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Alexander avoids the body shot from Samuel.
Alexander displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Samuel.
Jakob Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Samuel.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alexander misses with a straight right.
Alexander tries to land a leg kick but Samuel saw it coming and moves away.
Samuel dives in and grabs Alexander's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alexander pushes down on Samuel's head and hops out.
Samuel lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Alexander leaves Samuel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Samuel shoots in and bounces Alexander off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Alexander utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alexander controls Samuel momentarily but Samuel frees himself.
Samuel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Samuel dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Samuel's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Samuel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Alexander circles away.
Samuel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Samuel avoids the body shot from Alexander.
Samuel tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alexander sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Samuel somewhat.
Jakob Alexander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Samuel.

Samuel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Samuel working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Samuel throwing shots but Alexander is blocking nicely.
Samuel slips a nice elbow through Alexander's hands, connecting with Alexander's forehead.
Alexander tries to kick Samuel off but Samuel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
George Samuel has got the better of the ground game so far.

Alexander has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Samuel is working away from the top position though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Samuel lands a nice short elbow.
Samuel thows a huge punch but Alexander dodges it nicely.
Samuel lands with a punch from half guard.
Samuel prevents Alexander from improving his position.

Alexander is rocked!

Samuel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Oh Alexander is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Samuel is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Alexander is hurt! He's hurt bad - Samuel fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Alexander from any more punishment! Congratulations to Samuel! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). George Samuel!
George Samuel decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
