PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Solomon Ares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Proudstar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ares comes into the arena with r this town i 101 blaring out of the sound system. Proudstar has chosen "Run to the hills" by Iron Maiden as his entrance music. James Proudstar will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Solomon Ares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Proudstar!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Proudstar throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Solomon Ares has been cut.
Ares uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Proudstar has time to react.
Proudstar wants to land a leg kick but Ares is out of range.
Proudstar tests Ares's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fight stays on the outside here - Ares looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Proudstar shoots for a double leg takedown but Ares sprawls well. He's pushed Proudstar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Proudstar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ares's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Ares looking to control.
Ares might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ares pushes Proudstar off and scrambles back to his feet.
Ares shoots in but no luck this time.

Proudstar gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ares works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Ares lands a shoulder strike.
Ares goes for a takedown attempt but Proudstar pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Proudstar attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Proudstar throws a right and a left that Ares avoids nicely.
Ares looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ares keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Proudstar.
James Proudstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Proudstar misses with a looping right.
Proudstar misses the jab.
Proudstar lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ares shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Proudstar pinned against the cage. Proudstar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Solomon Ares. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ares is looking to clinch.

Ares dives in and scores a takedown into Proudstar's guard.

Ares wants to pass the guard but Proudstar is keeping the position.
Proudstar keeping moving, preventing Ares from controlling successfully.

We're going to have a standup here because Solomon Ares wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Ares connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Proudstar checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Proudstar misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Proudstar throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Ares's head.

Proudstar clinches.
Ares softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Ares lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Proudstar backwards.
Proudstar misses with a short punch on the inside.
Ares digs a right hand underneath Proudstar's ribcage. Proudstar let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ares prevents Proudstar from breaking the clinch.
Proudstar lands a knee to the body.
Proudstar tries a body shot but Ares blocks it.
Ares is trying to drag Proudstar to the mat but Proudstar just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Proudstar swings wildly with an uppercut but Ares uses good head movement to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Ares goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Proudstar misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A short right from Proudstar on the inside.
Ares throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Proudstars head.
Proudstar is trying to maintain a safe position but Ares gets an underhook and turns Proudstar into the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Proudstar fails to land.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ares lands a shot to the body.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Proudstar just misses with a elbow thrown towards Ares's brow.
Ares tries for a takedown but Proudstar manages to get underhooks.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but James Proudstar will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Solomon Ares's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ares throws a right hand that Proudstar ducks under and follows up with a left that Proudstar also avoids with ease.
Ares checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Proudstar cracks Ares with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Ares shoots in for a double leg but Proudstar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ares shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Proudstar sprawls well. Proudstar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ares gets slowly back to his feet.
Ares takes one to the side of the head.
Ares swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ares walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ares throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Proudstar.
Proudstar throws a sloppy head kick

and Ares counters with a shoot takedown. Proudstar fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Proudstar is on top in guard.
Proudstar is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ares looking to hit a scissor sweep but Proudstar is one step ahead there.

Ares is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Proudstar postures up in Ares's guard and throws a big left but Ares blocks it.
Proudstar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Proudstar stands up over Ares, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Proudstar postures up.
Proudstar trying to control but Ares is working from the bottom.
Proudstar is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Solomon Ares.
A big right from Proudstar misses.
A low kick from Proudstar misses
and Ares counters with a nice body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Proudstar looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Ares dips to his left and cracks Proudstar with an uppercut!

Proudstar decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Proudstar is looking for a kimura but Ares is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Proudstar to get the leverage.

Proudstar is keen to just control but Ares is a slippery customer.

Ares is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Proudstar is tapping! Great win for Ares!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Solomon Ares!
A very excited looking Solomon Ares rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
