PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Junjun Tare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Eatthedragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Junjun Tare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bob Eatthedragon!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tare shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eatthedragon pinned against the cage. Eatthedragon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Eatthedragon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tare looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tare being controlled for a moment.
Tare wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eatthedragon working the ground and pound but Tare is defending the strikes.
Tare is trying to control Eatthedragon's posture but Eatthedragon avoids it.
Tare is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Eatthedragon off and has taken his back!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eatthedragon just trying to survive but Tare is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Tare looking for the choke from the back.
Eatthedragon controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Eatthedragon covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Eatthedragon wants to escape the position.
Tare will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Eatthedragon trying to control the hands but Tare won't let him.
Eatthedragon is keeping busy.
Tare misses with a punch to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Eatthedragon trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Tare struggling to keep hold of the position.
Tare gets his hands free as Eatthedragon looks to control.
Eatthedragon rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Eatthedragon can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Eatthedragon is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Tare's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Tare's back!
Tare is breathing heavily.
Eatthedragon gets his hands free as Tare looks to control.
Eatthedragon really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Tare.
Tare looking very determined here, making life difficult for Eatthedragon.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Despite being in the dominant position, Bob Eatthedragon just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tare lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Eatthedragon dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


No luck for Tare with that takedown attempt.
Eatthedragon tries for a takedown but Tare circles away easily
and Tare counters with a nice body kick.
Tare will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Eatthedragon throws a solid leg kick but Tare takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Eatthedragon.

Eatthedragon clinches up against the cage.
Eatthedragon content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Tare prevents a takedown attempt there.

Eatthedragon gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Tare won't allow Eatthedragon to pass to mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Eatthedragon is looking to take a break and control but Tare is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eatthedragon prevents Tare from improving his position.
Eatthedragon seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Eatthedragon thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Tare tries to get to full guard but Eatthedragon has control of the leg.
Eatthedragon tries to pass to full mount but Tare defends it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Eatthedragon stands up and beckons Tare to join him on the feet.
Eatthedragon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Eatthedragon misses with a head kick.
Tare blocks a head kick by Eatthedragon.
Nice takedown defense from Eatthedragon. No joy for Tare on that attempt.

Eatthedragon closes the distance and clinches.
Eatthedragon is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Tare is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tare stalling in the clinch but Eatthedragon improves position.

Tare breaks the clinch.
Tare changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eatthedragon tries to avoid it but Tare manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eatthedragon to the ground. Eatthedragon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junjun Tare. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tare fails to land the takedown.
Tare doesn't manage to clinch there - Eatthedragon circles away.

Tare closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tare seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Tare working over Eatthedragon with some ground and pound. Eatthedragon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Eatthedragon wants to get back to his feet.
Tare is looking to advance position but Eatthedragon won't allow it.
Tare really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Eatthedragon trying to hold on to Tare's head to control him but Tare postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Still in half guard, Tare seems content to control.
Tare wants to stand up but Eatthedragon has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Eatthedragon wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tare displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Junjun Tare will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Tare lands with a hook. Eatthedragon tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Tare changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eatthedragon tries to avoid it but Tare manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eatthedragon to the ground. Eatthedragon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Eatthedragon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tare tries to clinch

and Eatthedragon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tare's guard now.
Eatthedragon wants to control from the top but Tare keeps moving.
Tare has momentary wrist control but Eatthedragon slips an elbow through the middle.
Eatthedragon slips nicely into half guard.
Eatthedragon is just content to waste time from the top position. Tare takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Eatthedragon trying to control the position from guard on top but Tare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Eatthedragon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tare manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Eatthedragon is looking to improve his position but Tare isn't that keen on the idea.

Eatthedragon bucks Tare off and manages to get back to his feet!
Tare tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Eatthedragon counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Tare!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tare keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Eatthedragon throws a wild left hand from mount and Tare manages to wriggle his way back to half guard.
Tare is trying to stand back up but Eatthedragon is controlling him
Tare wants to control but Eatthedragon is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Eatthedragon trying to control the action but Tare is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Tare shoots in looking for a takedown. Eatthedragon tries to sprawl out of it but Tare keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Eatthedragon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Eatthedragon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Tare keeping moving, preventing Eatthedragon from controlling successfully.
Tare manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Eatthedragon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Eatthedragon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
