Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tristin Shonuck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Puempel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shonuck comes into the arena with Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shonuck moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Puempel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shonuck moves away.
Shonuck misses with a body kick.
Shonuck scores with a leg kick.
A low kick from Shonuck is predictable there
and Puempel counters with a single leg into guard. Shonuck didn't expect that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Puempel tries to free his leg and advance position but Shonuck is retaining full guard.
Shonuck wants to get back to his feet but Puempel is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shonuck is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Puempel wants to control from the top but Shonuck keeps moving.
Puempel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Puempel is sitting in close to Shonuck's body. Shonuck has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Puempel is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Puempel is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Shonuck.
