Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

and Russian counters with a series of strikes that sends Vandamme to the canvas! Russian follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Russian stands and steps away. Vandamme gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Russian steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Vandamme. That one must have hurt.

and Vandamme is countered with a crisp right hand from Russian that sends him to the canvas! Russian follows him to the mat into side control.

Oh Vandamme is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

and Russian counters with a big left hand that crumples Vandamme! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!
