The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes lands with an overhand left.
Hughes blocks a head kick by Butcher.
Hughes digs a good hook to Butcher's body.
Butcher misses with a wild body shot.
Butcher really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Hughes throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Butcher pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughes lands with an uppercut that bounces Butcher off the cage and back into range.
Butcher throws a leg kick but Hughes sees it coming and moves out of range.

Hughes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Butcher stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Butcher throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily.

Hughes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Butcher.
Butcher scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hughes doesn't seem bothered though.

Both fighters circling a little - Butcher finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Butcher. Hughes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Butcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hughes throws out a loose jab but Butcher uses good head movement to avoid it.

Butcher lands with a nice combination. Hughes backs away looking to recover.

Butcher tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hughes is able to avoid easily.

Butcher buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Butcher throws a wild body kick that Hughes sees coming a mile off.
Hughes chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Butcher can pounce on him.

Butcher throws a right and a left that Hughes avoids nicely.
Butcher's corner calls for a 1-2. Butcher obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Butcher throws a body punch but Hughes moves out of range.

Butcher throws a series of punches but Hughes avoids them all with ease.

Butcher lands a left and a right that send Hughes crashing to the mat, dazed. Butcher thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
