Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hulohot Yokohama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yokohama has chosen Metallica - All Nightmare Long as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kenji Okabe has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hulohot Yokohama!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Okabe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Okabe tries to pass the half guard into mount. Yokohama knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Yokohama is looking to control Okabe's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Yokohama avoid being mounted?
Okabe works his foot free and advances to mount.
Okabe unloads with some shots from mount but Yokohama bucks and avoids them well.
Okabe landing strikes from the mount and Yokohama is in trouble!
Okabe raining down hammerfists from mount.

Okabe throws some wild stikes that Yokohama manages to avoid easily.
Yokohama is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Yokohama tries to reverse the position but Okabe maintains control.
Okabe tries to control but Yokohama wriggling away.
Okabe punching from mount but Yokohama doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Okabe thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Okabe throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Yokohama is rocked!

Okabe swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Yokohama is now in Okabe's guard. A big mistake from Okabe there, giving up the dominant position!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Okabe wants to stand and escape but Yokohama is having none of it.
Yokohama pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Okabe is keeping the position for now.
Yokohama postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Okabe is pulling down on Yokohama's head to control his posture.
Okabe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Okabe looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yokohama is one step ahead there.
Okabe is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Kenji Okabe wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A combination from Okabe does no damage.
Yokohama stuffs the takedown attempt from Okabe. Okabe gets slowly back to his feet.

Yokohama pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Okabe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Yokohama cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Yokohama tries to land a leg kick but Okabe saw it coming and moves away.

Okabe blocks a leg kick.
Yokohama leaves Okabe with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Okabe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yokohama keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Yokohama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Okabe misses with a telegraphed body shot

Okabe displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Yokohama throws out the jab.

Okabe avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Yokohama misses with a hook.
A slow jab from Yokohama misses its intended target.
Okabe blocks the body kick.
Yokohama throws a lazy right hand but Okabe sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Okabe closes the distance and clinches up with Yokohama, looking for a takedown. Okabe pushes Yokohama against the cage but Yokohama circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Okabe just misses with a punch to the body.
Okabe lands with a right hand.
Okabe blocks a low kick nicely.
Yokohama misses with a body kick.
Okabe throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Yokohama stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Yokohama uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Okabe.
Okabe cracks Yokohama with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Okabe scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
That kick from Yokohama tenderised Okabe's leg. Okabe is trying to keep his angry face on.
Yokohama moves away from the strike by Okabe.
Yokohama uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Okabe.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Kenji Okabe will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Okabe lands a couple of decent looking shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kenji Okabe showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Okabe has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
