Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Takefumi Mori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Acosta has chosen Child of Burning Time by Slipknot as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Takefumi Mori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Acosta!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Acosta shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Acosta seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Mori is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Acosta pulls his head out easily.
Acosta frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mori is in all sorts of trouble here.
BOOM! Acosta connects with a massive shot to the dome!


Mori is rocked!


It looks like Takefumi Mori has been cut.
Mori really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Acosta content just to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Acosta looking to control but Mori is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mori is desperately trying to improve his position but Acosta has a good base and remains in mount.

Acosta can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mori is looking to escape.
Acosta sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Acosta tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Acosta stands up from mount. Strange move.
Mori has his takedown stuffed

and Acosta counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mori!
Acosta looks gassed!
Mori looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Mori tries to roll but Acosta sticks to his back.
Mori covering up well under a series of strikes from Acosta.
Mori knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Acosta on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Acosta somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Acosta has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mori is in bad spot here.
Mori is working hard here to advance position.
Acosta doesn't have the hooks in and Mori manages to turn into his guard.
Mori looking to pass the guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Mori changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Acosta looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Acosta wants to control but Mori postures up.
Acosta regains half guard.
Mori is thwarting Acosta's attempts to control the position.
Acosta has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Acosta is controlling Mori's trapped leg to prevent Mori from advancing to side control.
Acosta gets full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Acosta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Mori postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Acosta is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mori, into his guard.
Acosta is looking to work some ground and pound but Mori has wrist control.
Mori wants to sweep here but Acosta controlling him for the moment.
Acosta is working Mori over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mori looking for a guillotine here but Acosta defends easily.

Mori is looking for a triangle but Acosta pushes his legs off easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Acosta wants to control from the top but Mori keeps moving.
Acosta stands and throws Mori's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Mori is looking for a sweep.
Acosta is looking to take a break and control but Mori is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mori tries to buck Acosta off but Acosta is having none of it.
Acosta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mori keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kevin Acosta dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Takefumi Mori's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Acosta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Acosta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mori tries to reverse the position but Acosta maintains control.
Acosta tries to control but Mori wriggling away.
Mori is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Acosta stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Mori looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Acosta!
Mori wants to take Acosta's back here but Acosta is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Acosta is trying desperately to improve position.
Acosta prevents Mori from taking his back.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mori is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Acosta can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Mori is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Acosta has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Acosta wants to hold on but Mori pushes him away.
Mori wants to take his opponent's back but Acosta doesn't allow it.

Mori has isolated one of Acosta's arms. Acosta looking to fight him off but Mori twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
