PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Jass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Parker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Parker's choice of entrance music: Bong Tokin Alcoholics-by the KottonmouthKings. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jeff Parker was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hugh Jass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Parker!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parker waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jass.
Jass throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Parker jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Parker lands with a right hand.
Parker's corner calls for a 1-2. Parker obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Jass throws a sloppy head kick and Parker moves out of range easily.
Parker fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jass looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Parker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jass fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jass throws a head kick but Parker moves out of range.
Parker looks to land a right hand but Jass moved out of range.
Parker fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Jass ducks under a wild hook from Parker.
Hugh Jass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Parker misses with a straight right.
Jass rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Parker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Parker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Parker showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Parker seems to be working for a kimura but Jass defends the submission attempt.

Parker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jass pushes Parker off looking to stand but Parker dives back in and keeps control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Parker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jass is just riding it out for now. Parker eventually gives up the hold.
Jass won't allow Parker to pass to mount.
Parker content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Parker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jass doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Parker.

Jeff Parker dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jass throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

and Jass counters with a series of strikes. Parker will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jass pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Jass walks into a jab.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Parker throws a hook but Jass avoids it easily.

Jass drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Jass slips a jab from Parker.
A jab from Parker misses.
A head kick from Jass lands but Parker takes it in his stride.
Parker might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jass tries to clinch there but Parker circles away.
Parker shoots for a takedown but Jass saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jass looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jass keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jass displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Parker throws out the jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jass is pushing Parker's head away, looking to escape. Parker manages to hold on to the position though.

Parker is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jass knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jass bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Parker connects with a body shot that sends Jass's belly button to the back.

Jass falls off balance throwing a combination

and Parker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jass's guard.
Jass is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Parker tries to free his leg and advance position but Jass is retaining full guard.
Parker trying to control but Jass is working from the bottom.
Parker stands and throws Jass's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jass is trying to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Parker tries for a kimura but Jass is defending well.
Jass knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Parker on the ground.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Parker looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Parker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jass has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Parker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A close second round but Jeff Parker will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Jass is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Parker asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Parker is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jass is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jass is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Parker is controlling him well.
Jass trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Jass sneaks out the side door and pushes Parker away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Hugh Jass is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jass pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hugh Jass is winning the standup battle so far.
Parker loads up on a big right hand but Jass slips the punch.
Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Parker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Parker counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jass's guard now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Parker passes Jass's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Parker seems to be working for a kimura but Jass defends the submission attempt.
Hugh Jass has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jass is refusing to be controlled, as Parker sits in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jass wants to get back to his feet.
Jeff Parker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Parker tries to pass to full mount but Jass defends it.

Jeff Parker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Parker winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
